Diana Leddy was a classroom teacher and special educator for over 25 years and was honored to have been named the Vermont State Teacher of the Year in 2009. She is a founding member of the Vermont Writing Collaborative and a co-editor of In Common, a set of annotated Common Core aligned student writing samples, K-12.
In addition to coauthoring Writing for Understanding, and The Primary Coaching Guide, Diana has published articles on integrating reading and writing with content standards in national peer reviewed journals like Science and Children and Social Studies and the Young Learner.
With a focus on designing developmentally appropriate CCSS aligned instruction in the primary grades, Diana has created exemplar lessons and professional development materials for Student Achievement Partners, The Council of the Great City Schools and the Smarter Balanced Digital Library.
Diana serves as a content area specialist, reviewer and CCSS advisor for State Departments of Education, nonprofit organizations and major publishers. She has also supported NBC Universal and Great Schools on the design and development of Common Core resource materials for parents.
Diana is currently an educational consultant and Common Core ELA implementation specialist, with a focus on supporting educators throughout the country as they develop Common Core aligned curriculum and instruction in English Language Arts.
